WR Robertson announces he’s leaving Cal

California wide receiver Demetris Robertson has decided to leave the Golden Bears because of personal matters, he announced Thursday on Twitter.”I’ve decided not to continue my education and football career at UC Berkeley,” Robertson tweeted, going on to thank his coaches, teammates and fellow students for their “ongoing support and consideration of my personal matters.” He did not indicate whether he will seek a transfer to another program or enroll in a different school. Should he play elsewhere, he’d have two seasons of eligibility remaining.Robertson, from Savannah, Ga., was the No. 1 wide receiver in the Class of 2016 and a five-star prospect, according to the 247Sports composite. He played two seasons for the Bears, catching seven passes for 70 yards in two games last year before undergoing surgery for a lower-body injury. He also carried the ball twice for 40 yards and a touchdown.
